Design and composition are cornerstones of the traditional sign-painting craft. A good sign needs good design to fulfill its primary purpose: communicating information legibly and clearly. In the 21st century, the hand-designed type treatment can also serve a dual function as a logo and identity. We work with you to hone in on the identity for your developing business. Beginning with logo development, then signage, menus, business cards, websites, social media, apparel lines and merchandise.

The colors are more vibrant and the lines carry the quality of the hand rather than the blade of a printer. This is why it is has been a time-honored craft for centuries.
Leaf gilding has been central to American storefront design for over a century. The first accounts of gilding date back over 700 years. Early examples were simply metal foil, crudely adhered to the back of clear quartz. Although increasingly rare, gold leafing and gilding are still among the most respected of old trades. Popularized in American signage during the boom of the early 20th century, gold leaf can bring elegance and class to nearly any building.
Today many sign shops have replaced their most respected trade with stickers. There are still a few masters left who produce priceless work but very few new gilders in the city. We are trying to help change that.
